"Giving shapes volume"
ROBBIE SHILSTONE — a Los Angeles-based animator, director, and filmmaker. His modernist style pulls from abstraction, minimalism, music, fine art and philosophy to create soulful animations. Having worked with pillars of the art, tech, and entertainment industries, he now looks to build a world of his own and tell stories.
Throughout his career he has found himself exploring the intersection of art, tech, and entertainment. He started his career as the lead animator at a tech start up helping ideate and execute campaigns for some of the largest companies in the world.
From there, Robbie dove into his own creative exploration and developed the visual identity that he is known for today. He found success with this new style, leading to working with clients like Apple, MoMA and Disney. Outside of commercial opportunities, he also collaborated with multiple notable musicians including Bruno Mars, Samara Joy, Method Man, Oscar Peterson, Poppy, and others.
While client work was booming, Robbie still had the desire to tell his own stories. His commitment to independent filmmaking led him to explore emerging technologies and build out his own IP. PUBLIQUE is an animated short film anthology currently being developed alongside his fans. The project leverages block chain technologies to support and finance his filmmaking pursuits. By remaining independent, Shilstone is able to tell more particular, authentic stories through short films and invite his fans into his unique filmmaking process.
Regardless of medium or platform, Shilstone's mission has always been clear. He follows in the footsteps of his late grandfather, Arthur Shilstone, who had a life long career as an illustrator and watercolorist. Robbie looks to build on the legacy of his family, tell authentic human stories, and push the medium of animation forward.
